For every purchase from the ‘MUD’ collection, SKINNY HIPPO donates €1 to SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund.
This is enough to feed one hippo for a whole day. Thank you for supporting hippo conservation in
Botswana’s Okavango region.
Drought is trapping hippos in the Okavango. When the annual flood runs low, lagoons and channels lose their connection to the main river. They become isolated pools that slowly shrink to mud, while the surrounding grass dies back. Hippos are left stuck, with no water to shelter in and no food to eat.
In 2024, over 100 hippos crowded into a single shrinking lagoon at Nxaraga, with the water and grass running out by the day and nowhere else to go.
That’s where SAVE steps in.
Faced with this crisis, the team at SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund intervenes directly on the ground.
Their approach rests on two pillars: supplying water and food to hippos stranded in drying waterholes, and environmental education to help local communities understand the value of hippos within the Okavango Delta ecosystem.
When drought hits, SAVE’s team pumps borehole water into drying lagoons and brings in food, keeping stranded hippos alive until the floods return.
At SKINNY HIPPO, we believe in protecting what is rare. Each collection is built around an animal under threat, drawing on its strength, its spirit, and its environment.
Our first collection, MUD, is inspired by the hippo: its power, its presence, and the rivers and wetlands it calls home. Even our name holds that idea.
SKINNY HIPPO is a deliberate contradiction, standing for body positivity and wildlife conservation at once. Because you should never starve a hippo.
We chose SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund because they don’t just talk about protection; they’re on the ground. When drought strikes the Okavango, their team is there, bringing water and food to stranded hippos and working with local communities to protect them for the long term.
We wanted everyone who wears SKINNY HIPPO to carry that commitment with them. So for every purchase from the MUD collection, we donate €1 to SAVE. That’s enough to feed a hippo for an entire day.
