New sponsorship for environmental playgroup in Botswana<\/strong><\/p>

G\u00fcven & Partner committed to species conservation education for children<\/strong><\/p>

To introduce children at an early age to the topics of the environment and species conservation in one of the most wildlife-rich areas on earth: This is the goal of the now 37 environmental playgroups that the SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund has opened around Botswana’s game reserves.<\/p>

The internationally active law firm G\u00fcven & Partner has now taken on a sponsorship for the playgroup in the village of Motopi. The law firm with offices in Turkey Bursa and in Germany Wuppertal with cooperation partner Frowein& Partner has been involved in social projects, especially for children, since its foundation.<\/p>

The playgroup supported by G\u00fcven & Partner in the village of Motopi is located about halfway between the Nxai Pan National Park and the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The people there traditionally live from farming and cattle breeding.<\/p>

The geographical location between two national parks brings some conflicts. Old migration routes of elephants and other wild animals run through the region around the village of Motopi. Especially elephants then often destroy the harvest on their fields, which is an existential threat for the local population.<\/p>

In order to promote peaceful coexistence, the children are taught from an early age in the Motopi playgroup how to live together with these animals without conflict.<\/p>

The group, like all other SAVE playgroups in Botswana, receives a special environmental education program developed by SAVE. The “Early Childhood Development Curriculum” imparts basic, child-friendly knowledge about biodiversity and the natural areas of Botswana.<\/p>

The playgroup in Motopi has already existed since September 2022. After the local population was educated and informed about the new offer for children, 28 children were registered for the program in a short time. Two educators trained by SAVE are currently in charge of the environmental playgroup. A building was quickly found and is now being renovated in a timely manner.<\/p>

At the end of January 2023, the playgroup opened with a new look after renovations and the purchase of toys and various other learning materials.<\/p>
